Project Background

1. The Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macao Bridge is a bridge-and-tunnel project in China connecting Hong Kong, Zhuhai and Macao. Located in the Lingdingyang area of Guangdong Province, it forms the southern section of the Pearl River Delta Ring Expressway.

2. The Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macao Bridge starts in the east at the Hong Kong Boundary Crossing Facilities artificial island near Hong Kong International Airport, crosses Lingdingyang to the west, connects to the Zhuhai and Macao artificial islands, and ends at Hongwan in Zhuhai; the total length of the bridge and tunnel is 55 kilometres, of which the main bridge is 29.6 kilometres and the section from the Hong Kong Boundary Crossing Facilities to the Zhuhai–Macao Boundary Crossing Facilities is 41.6 kilometres; The bridge deck comprises a dual-carriageway motorway with six lanes in each direction, designed for a speed of 100 kilometres per hour.
